Travel to Brazil for COP30

Today Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy Josh Wilson will travel to Brazil for meetings at the World Leaders’ Climate Action Summit during the first week of COP30.

Assistant Minister Wilson will attend the opening of the Summit in Belém and engage in several roundtable discussions with leaders and ministerial counterparts on forests and oceans, the energy transition, and the next decade of climate action under the Paris Agreement.

Minister Wilson will speak about Australia’s energy transition, highlighting Australia’s practical action on climate change and the opportunities created by our clean energy transformation.

He will use the visit to advance Australia’s bid to co-host COP31 in partnership with the Pacific, along with the other Australian representatives who will be in attendance, focusing on our shared commitment to meaningful climate action and strong regional cooperation.
